What’s one more?

“What’s one more?”

I feel like I asked myself that question often throughout my almost 6 years of motherhood. Having three children under three refines you. The refining may feel like you’re hanging on by a thread while juggling way too much and running through a blazing fire, but it refines you.

After having three under three, finding out I was again unexpectedly pregnant with a fourth seemed like it would be a cake walk or a dumpster fire of disaster. I can say now after a year with our sweet Aiden boo, it has been pretty easy. The phrase “What’s one more?” Really is true for us.

Aiden is not a hard baby and neither is he easy. When he is happy he is THE HAPPIEST baby and when he is sad, well he ONLY wants mama and nothing else. However, having three older siblings that are able to help, has been amazing. Having a big family has lead to my children learning a lot of valuable social and coping skills that other may not learn before the age of five. They know how to live communally, to share (though sometimes they may not want to), they help out with the baby and really enjoy having responsibilities. I’ve always dreamed of a big family and I’m so glad it happened for us. Having 4 kids may seem daunting, but truly, it’s ten times easier than three. I’d do it over again in a heartbeat.
