The world seems to be split between trying to restore faith in human kindness and then trying to roll it under the bus completely. Positivity is harder and harder to find. Sometimes the world can seem quite dark with everything that goes on in it.

Then there are those wonderful people that bring their bright lights into the world with the amazing things they do! You can feel their positivity just radiate off of them and come straight into your heart. They can pick anyone up out of a funk and turn the worst day completely around. I’m always so grateful for those people in my own life, they always find me when I need it most.

Positive thinking seems to be the hardest form of thought for mothers especially. We spend so much time thinking about others, worrying about others needs, taking care of everyone else that we tend to forget about ourselves. As a mother that struggles with depression myself, trying to keep my thoughts upbeat is difficult at times. It’s harder to find the good and the happy when all you feel is darkness and sad. I have also seen the power of positivity in my life so many times, as such you cannot deny its strength! One small act of kindness can spark a wildfire of happiness. The Power of Positive Thinking | East Valley Moms Blog

Some things that I do to help me stay as positive as I can is to:

  • serve others. A lot of the time, helping someone else fix a problem or seeing their needs, helps us sort ours out. It may not be that through helping them you find exactly what you’re looking for BUT the distraction from what was bothering you can sometimes be that breath of fresh air you were looking for.
  • have a good cry. We all need one of these every now and then, For me, once it’s all out, I tend to be able to see better what I need to do.
  • take some serious ALONE me time. I lock myself in a room of the house and no one is allowed to bug me for a set amount of time. Or I go to the store by myself, or out with friends (rare but it does happen!!).
  • my husband and I plan at least one staycation a year for just him and I so we can reconnect and for me this is HUGE in helping my positive days outweigh my negative ones. We are able to step away for a day or two and relax!

Being positive is hard. I won’t sugarcoat it. For some of us, it’s even impossible to do every single day. It’s also ok to have bad days in between the good ones. We’re all only human after all, but I know the power that positive thinking and positive acts have on us and the world around us. If we are able to slow down and see what good we can do in our little corners of the planet just watch and see what wildfires of goodness we can start!
