Summer fun at home: Pajama Day

1

We are a busy family.  I know so many of you are just as busy as we are and it can be so exhausting.  We pretty much have an activity every day and I can tell when my kids are so over it.  So every once in a while we declare a pajama day, especially in the summer when it’s so.much.work to get in and out of hot cars with kids.

If you could only see the reaction I get when I tell them it’s pajama day.

So what is pajama day?

Exactly what it sounds like!  No one has to get dressed so there is no chasing them down begging them to hurry up and put their shoes on.  We get to eat all meals on the couch if we want and they are allowed to watch way too much tv.

My boys hate running errands and usually if there comes a day when we don’t already have plans we run errands.  On pajama day there are no plans and no errands.  Whatever sounds fun at home, that’s what we do.  Legos, board games, trains, and hot wheels races are some of our favorite pajama day activities.pajama day4

This is such a great way for you and your kids to recharge and spend some good quality time together playing or snuggling up to a movie.  Naps are also a must on pajama day!

The day after a pajama day, my boys are always more cooperative and well behaved.  As mom’s we have learned to ignore the little voice in our heads telling us that we are tired and to slow down.  We are so used to going and doing that we forget our kid’s have that little voice too and they don’t know how to ignore it yet.

So instead of running to Target and the grocery store, spend a lazy day at home with your kids and let yourself have a day off!  You and your kid’s will thank you for it!
