My word for 2017 – GRACE

0

With the Christmas season upon us, I felt it necessary to write a quick note about a powerful word – GRACE.

2017
Just recently I was having lunch with a friend when the topic of grace came up in conversation. It stopped me in my tracks because just a week prior we talked about grace at a local moms group that I attended. Now as I write this, I remember hearing grace for a third time in a couple weeks as I was sitting in church this past weekend.

There are certain seasons of life when we really need to work on specific areas of our lives. Sometimes it’s about selflessly giving of time or finances. Other times it’s a word that speaks to us in order to help us through our current situation. I’m just coming out of a season of being content, in all areas, from being a mom to finances to choosing not to further my professional development this year and just work to maintain my current certifications.  Which, for the Type A person, sometimes feels as if you’re doing nothing.

During the conversation with my friend I was telling her about being content and how this is hard for me, but that I’m working on it. I told her about being just a mom, wife, and a part-time employee. She stated “and that should be enough,” but for some reason it isn’t for me. I hate to say that out loud because I love being all of those things and the flexibility to work part-time, but at the same time I feel like I am always trying to look for what is coming next. Now enters the season of grace. So instead of beating myself up and feeling guilty, I’m going to read some books on grace and study how this concept applies, not only to myself, but also to those around me.

So for 2017, my word is grace. Do you have a word to set the tone for 2017 as you look ahead?
