How My Son Brought Back the Holiday Spirit

0

The Holiday season has always been one of my favorite times of the year but I think I can speak for many adults that the Holidays can still be fun, but the “magic” seems to fade over time. I think it starts dwindling once you find out who Santa really is. Before I became a mama, Christmas reminded me of food, drinks, and parties with friends and family, but also came the stress of figuring out what gifts to give and how I’d pay for them! Insert the thousands of gift commercials that started playing on repeat after Halloween!

Flash forward to present day– my son is two years old and I have no anxiety that Christmas is around the corner. In fact, I’m more excited than ever to start decorating, watch Christmas movies, and bake cookies with my little guy!! I look forward to making memories and continuing traditions with my family, versus worrying about what presents we’ll be giving out. Actually, one of the traditions we’ll start this year is weekend crafting for gifts! Not only is it more affordable, it’ll provide more quality time for us, and what family member wouldn’t appreciate a homemade gift from our 2-year old, right?! 🙂

As mentioned, this time of year will always be my favorite but now the “spirit” is back and I’m so thankful! I never really realized that the spirit ever left until I felt it come back with the birth of my son. Now I’m that proud, shameless mama that will have the Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving (if not sooner), lights lit all over the house, introducing Elf on a Shelf to my kiddo and Christmas music on repeat this year. I hope I’m able to create the same magical holiday spirit for my son that I had growing up.

What are some of your favorite holiday traditions that you’ve started since having kids?!

Wishing you all a very Merry Holiday!
