Inexpensive and Easy Ways To Change Up Your Home

0

We have lived our home for almost 11 years.  When we first moved in, we painted and decorated as most people do.  As the years passed I slowly grew tired of my decor but just always thought we didn’t have enough money to change it.  I kept making excuses like, I don’t have the time, it’s too expensive, it won’t be worth it since I have young kids.  The list went on and on.  Recently, I took a class on “Finding Your Style” and I was hoping it would give me the boost I needed to finally restyle my home.  I came out of the class with some great tips on redoing my home on a budget. Here are some things I learned.

  1. Paint goes a long way.  I always though paint was so expensive, but in actuality it’s not.  We bought a few gallons at a time. Little by little I painted my house, during nap time and after my kids went to bed.  I picked out a fresh new color and It made a world of a difference!
  2. I bought a rug.  I never realized how much of a difference a rug makes. I think it pulled my house together and made such a huge impact.  This item may be more on the expensive side.  But I picked the one I wanted and watched for sales and then finally took the plunge and I think it was worth the money.
  3. Realize that everything doesn’t have to be done at once.  Pick a spot and work on that and then move onto the next.  If you can do everything at once that’s great, but for us it just wasn’t feasible financially and time wise.
  4. Change up your wall decor.  It’s really easy to move around your wall decor to make things look different.  Or if you’re tired of them, sell them and buy new ones.  I have found lots of success selling things on offer up and Facebook Marketplace, and using that money to buy new things to put in my home.
  5. If you’re looking for cheap wall art look on Etsy! I found so many cheap prints for under $5 and then just printed them in the size I wanted and found inexpensive frames and then put them on my wall.  Something as simple as a different wall decor can also change the feeling of your space greatly.
