Homework caddy from the dollar store

My boys are entering fourth and seventh grades this year so homework is a big part of our daily routine and nothing makes the process more frustrating than not having what is needed when it becomes homework time. A homework caddy keeps everything in one spot and your kids can transport it anywhere they’re planning to work. Not everyone has the space for a full fledged homework zone and some moms don’t like the clutter so a portable homework caddy is a practical idea and can be stashed away when not in use. If you use items from the dollar store and stock up during the back-to-school sales, you can keep it affordable, too.

All you need is a cleaning caddy which comes with a handy dandy handle plus plastic tumblers to fit inside to hold supplies. Even if you need two, the complete project with brand new supplies is under $15 each including supplies.

Supplies should include whatever your kids use regularly and will depend on their age. Common supplies include

  • pencils
  • pencil sharpener
  • erasers
  • crayons
  • colored pencils
  • glue
  • scissors
  • ruler
  • markers
  • Post-it notes
  • tape

Mine being a little older also like to have

  • pall point pens
  • red pens
  • highlighters
  • white out
  • note cards
  • dictionary
  • zip drive

You could personalize it with your kids’ name or use labels on the containers if you want. Make it fun and appealing so homework time can be as enjoyable as possible. Here’s to an organized school year and stress free moms and kids!
