Fun Ideas for Celebrating with Family and Friends

Getting together with friends and family is one of the best parts of the holiday season. From the end of November through the beginning of January, our calendar is filled with gatherings, parties, meals with the people we love the most. If you’re like us, every year we can count on a cookie exchange, ugly sweater party, secret Santa event, etc. and though these themes are always something to look forward to, it can also be fun to mix things up from time to time. If you have been in search of some new ways to celebrate the holidays with your loved ones, look no further! Whether you’re in need of some inspiration for a holiday group date or multi-family event, reinvent your next holiday party with one of these fresh ideas this season.

At Home Chef: A great alternative to a group dinner at a restaurant is to bring a chef into your home to host a dinner for your guests. This can be interactive where the chef teaches you how to make something and then you enjoy the fruits of your labor, or just a relaxing meal prepared by someone else. There are many affordable options across all different types of cuisine. We recently did an at home sushi making group date – it was super fun, the food was delicious, and there was no setup or cleanup for the hosts.

Service Project: There are so many options for giving back to your community this time of year. Get a group together and volunteer with Feed My Starving Children. Partner with your loved ones to adopt a family in need and shop for and/or deliver gifts together as a group.

Wine Tasting Night: Have everyone bring their favorite bottle and a dish that pairs well. Create different stations by type and have your guests vote on favorites.

Wrapping Party: I get a lot more enjoyment buying gifts than wrapping them. A lot of times, gift wrapping has to fit into the edges of my day due to the hustle and bustle of the season. Oh…and I am not very good at it. But I know a lot of people who love this part of the holidays and everything is more fun in a group. Get together a group of girlfriends, put on your favorite holiday tunes, pour a little wine, and create some enjoyment around wrapping together.

Vision Boarding: A great option for a low-key NYE or New Year’s Day, this is an easy and fun way to ring in 2019. Provide some basic supplies to your guests and have them bring their ideas and creativity. For more on vision boarding as a family click here.
