Top 5 Local classes for your busy babes!

What do you do all day?

Or rather: how do you keep your son busy, without it costing you an arm and a leg? This is a question that I am often asked, especially by other mothers. Besides the classic story times in our neighboring libraries, I found there is, in fact, a plethora of free classes. It took some research and lots of mom networking to find them, but you can keep your kiddos busy outside of the house without it costing you a dime (or almost). The resources mentioned below are a great way for your child to develop, but also to connect with other parents (and share a coffee – or two – with).

FREE local classes for your busy babes! | East Valley Moms BlogMy top 5

  1. Thrive to Five: this is my absolute favorite resource. Basically, TTF offers free classes designed to prepare kids 0-5 years for success in school. There are different family resource centers in Tempe where you can let your kids play, take parenting classes, get free dental/vision/hearing screenings and so much more. Visit their website for a glimpse of classes and schedules, and sign up for their newsletter. Classes fill up FAST! If you live in the Mesa and Gilbert area, there is an equivalent through Parent University.
  2. Swim Kids USA has free swim classes for infants 2-7 months and a free tumble bugs class for 5-12 months. Just give them a call or stop by to secure your spot.
  3. Aspire Kids Sport Center has a free baby bugs class for kiddos 0-13 months on Thursday at 10 am and a free dance class for 12-24 months tots on Fridays at 11 am.
  4. Innerlight Dance center offers a tots dance class on Wednesday at 9 am. Free up to 2.5 years. No parent participation needed by the way (wink wink).
  5. Halle Heart Children’s Museum : this is a really good investment. The yearly membership is $55 for 2 adults (kids under 3 are free) for access to the museum and some of the classes. With your membership, you can attend the Friday morning Rhythm and Rhymes class at 10 am.
