DIY Fun Halloween Snap Shots

0

One of the things I love most about Halloween is it is a time to be silly. Halloween is a great time to capture some fun and not-so-traditional pictures of your kids in their Halloween costumes! A few years back I held a Halloween mini-session for my clients to get pictures of their kiddos in costumes. I set up a super simple set and the results of pictures were fantastic! It was probably one of my favorite shoots of all time. It was so simple that anyone with a little bit of photography skill can pull it off.

First find a good well lit spot. You will want your kids to be facing a bright light source like a window. Or you can set up in the garage or under a patio.

Next, find a Halloween colored sheet or table cloth. The simpler the backdrop, the better. I had a cute table cloth with pumpkins all over but thought it was too busy, so I opted for some orange material I bought at JoAnne’s.  Hang it up however you can. I used clips and clipped it to a bookshelf.

Place your kids in front of your backdrop (I know this step is kind of a given).

Grab your camera or smartphone and shoot away. Play with angles and your placements. What’s fun about these is you can totally experiment!

Have your child make some funny faces. What’s great about these is that you don’t need that perfect smiling expression to get a great shot.

Finish your shots off by editing the images using the PicTapGo app or Instagram. Play around with your crop. You can get some really unique and fun shots that look very designer by cropping the subject way off center.

I finished the images off using the Beautiful Mess app to add wording.

These fun shots would make great cards to share or combined with other crafts to make Halloween decorations you can treasure for a lifetime.
