What is BLOOM::

A morning of learning and fun in honor of Mother’s Day

Why should you attend BLOOM:

If you are expecting for the first or third time, have a newborn at home or are working your way through the toddler years and thinking of expanding your family in the future, this event is for you!

With 3 ticket options some guests will leave with a bag stuffed to the brim with swag, meet and chat with other local moms, enter some fabulous giveaways and receive valuable information from local experts on topics pertaining to parenting.

A graduate of Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Lydia Sims completed her residency at Magee Women’s Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Sims specializes in low and high risk pregnancy, contraception options, menopausal issues and minimally invasive surgery including robotic surgery.

Viren Bavishi, DO, is a Board-Certified Pediatrician with Banner Medical Group. He completed medical school at Midwestern University and his residency at Advocate-Hope Children’s Hospital, both in Illinois. His philosophy for practicing medicine is to treat patients as how he wants his children to be treated. Dr. Bavishi lives in Chandler with his wife and two children.

Lactation Consultant at Banner Desert Medical Center and Cardon Children’s Medical Center.

Doreen is a member of the International Lactation Consultants Association (ILCA), the Association for Women’s Health and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN), Central Arizona Lactation Association (CALCA), United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA), Arizona Breastfeeding Coalition (ABC) and Le Leche League International (LLLI). She has worked at Banner Desert and Cardon Children’s for more than 16 years and has been working fulltime as a Lactation Consultant for 9 years. During that time she has been teaching the Prenatal Breastfeeding Class and she also started a weekly Breastfeeding Support Group to help new mothers meet their breastfeeding goals. Doreen has mentored several RNs to assist them in becoming Lactation Consultants. Doreen volunteers by helping mothers over the phone with breastfeeding questions.

Dr. Robyn Wilhelm, PT, DPT

Robyn is a Pelvic and Women’s Health Physical Therapist located in Mesa, AZ.  She is passionate about whole-body health and one-on-one patient care. Robyn holds an understanding and empathy of the emotional stress that often accompanies dysfunction. She evaluates and treats patients with various women’s health related conditions and pelvic floor conditions. She greatly enjoys providing consultation and treatment to women prenatal and postpartum, and she believes that postpartum physical therapy care should be part of healthcare for every woman following delivery.  Her goal is to identify the cause(s) of  your problem and provide education, treatment and a home care plan to help you attain better health and well-being.

Child Passenger Safety Specialist at Phoenix Children’s Hospital

She has been a child passenger safety technician for close to 10 years and a Special Transportation Needs Instructor for 6 years.  Angelica is passionate in reducing the number of children injured or killed in motor vehicle crashes and supported Arizona’s booster seat law.  As part of the Injury Prevention Center, Angelica works with patients and families, to determine the safest way to travel home.  She also works in the community providing classes and car seats to families.

Jody Drange, RD, CDE, ACSM EP-C

She graduated from Minnesota State University-Moorhead with her B.S. in Exercise Science. After working for a year she decided to further her education and attend Arizona State University for B.S. in Dietetics. Jody completed her internship in 2007 in northern Arizona. Since then she has completed continuing education to acquire both her Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and ACSM Exercise Physiologist (EP) certification to enhance her knowledge of diabetes management, exercise and prescription of exercise for at risk populations. Jody’s work experience has been in weight loss, eating disorders, sports nutrition, heart disease, and diabetes.

    How can I get involved with this event? I’m a pediatric dietitian with a private practice, specializing in providing nutrition education to pregnant woman and parents of 0-3 year old! I do private and small group counseling, lectures, and I have an ever-expanding website with resources.
