A Letter To My Best Friend: You Are A Great Mom. This has been on my mind for a while and I'm not really sure why I haven’t said this to you before, so here we go: You are a freaking amazing mom.

This has been on my mind for a while and honestly, I’m not really sure why I haven’t said this to you before, so here we go:

You are a freaking amazing mom.

Motherhood is hard. I know it, you know it – heck every mom out there knows it. It’s scary, chaotic and overwhelming. I truly believe it’s the hardest job we will ever have. The unfortunate thing about it is that there’s no one to tell you when you’re doing great or offer a little encouragement when you need it. It’s not like a job in an office where we have a boss telling us where we are successful and where we need to work a little harder.

But I see you.

I see the sacrifices you make daily for your family. That little bit of “you” that you’ve changed to make your families lives a little better. The way you are constantly trying to balance everything – kids, marriage, work, friends – life. The sleepless nights, the laundry, the cleaning, the cooking, and all thousands of little tasks you do daily. Even though no one outright says it, all this doesn’t go unnoticed.  Your kids are just too little to understand how truly amazing their mom is and how lucky they are to have you (or maybe they are old enough and just don’t know how to say it). But I can see it and I want you to know that you are appreciated.

I know you worry all the time about the millions of decisions you make daily and if those are the right ones – the right school, the right meals at dinner, heck even the right kind of soap! You worry that you aren’t good enough and always wondering how you can do better – do more. But here’s the thing: the simple fact that you are thinking about all this means that you ARE doing all of this right. You ARE doing your best. You ARE good enough. It’s ok to struggle, it’s ok to second guess, it’s ok to strive to be better, but the bottom line is that you are an incredible mom.

Perhaps the biggest thing I need to say to you is that I admire you. I marvel at the way you care for your family. You are raising the most wonderful, strong, compassionate little people. I am in awe of the way you handle the bad days with grace and your ability to embrace the imperfection of raising kids. Most of all, I appreciate your encouragement and words of wisdom more than you know. You are a wonderful friend and a remarkable woman.

Being a mom is the hardest job in the whole world, so this Mother’s day I just want you to know that you are killing it at this whole motherhood thing. You inspire me to be the best mom I can be – thank you from the bottom of my heart.A Letter To My Best Friend: You Are A Great Mom.
