Thanksgiving is upon us and we were given the task of making some creative and colorful table decorations for our family this year. I always like to incorporate our hobbies when we do crafts so, this year, we found it only fitting to make “Tee-rrific Turkeys” in honor of Garrett’s passion for golf.

Thanks to said passion, we have oodles of golf tees laying around the house so it was an easy place to start. Here are the supplies you’ll need to make your turkeys a hole in one!

  1. Brown paint
  2. Other colored paints to paint four tees – we used fall colors but be creative, girls may want to stick to pink and purples and that would look very cute as well! You can even dip these in glue and roll in glitter.
  3. 4 golf tees (white)
  4. Red glitter foam to make the turkey’s wattle
  5. Two google eyes
  6. Two pom poms in any color to make the turkey’s feet
  7. Styrofoam ball of any size
  8. Foam and paint brushes
  9. Floral foam wedge (optional)
  10. Wax paper

Step 1: Paint the styrofoam ball with the brown paint. We used the thicker foam brushes for easy coverage — let dry overnight.

Step 2: Paint the golf tees in an assortment of colors that the kids have chosen. I bought a wedge of floral foam to stick the golf tees in while painting for easier coverage and less mess. However, as you can see, Garrett just went for it — it’s a dirty job but someone had to do it! 🙂 — Let these dry for a few hours as well. (You could paint the tees and foam all at once, let dry on wax paper overnight, and then the kids can finish the project the next morning).

Step 3:  Place the golf tees into the turkey in an arch formation at the top to look like a fan of feathers.

Step 4: Mom’s turn! Break out that glue gun and go to work on the wattle, eyes and little feet. The feet will hold the turkey upright.

Wholla! You have an adorable decoration that all golf enthusiasts at your table will love! Let’s face it, everyone will get a kick out of these. If you want to turn them into place settings, simply hot glue the finished turkey to a solid colored paper dessert plate and have the kids puff paint names on the plate.

From our family to yours, we hope your Turkey Day is TEE-RRIFIC!!!
