That quote from Ziggy hits home.  Thoughts are very powerful, especially negative thinking.  I grew up hearing “No Stinking Thinking” constantly and I am forever grateful that I did!

I want you to think about those in your life who are happy. **I’ll give you a minute to think**

Got it?

Who did you think about?  Was it a close friends, spouse, relative, co-worker?

Did you think of yourself? Yes, YOU!

It’s okay to think of yourself as one of the happy people in your life.  You spend more time with yourself than with anyone else. Why not be one of those happy people?

Is it easy being happy? For some it takes a lot of work, other its a natural ability, but we all have the capability to be happy.

I’ve gone through quite a bit of trauma the last couple years, not physical, but mental.  Working on having a positive mind, hasn’t been something I’ve really needed to do before.  I have a whole new level of respect and love for those who suffer from the demons inside their minds and still function.

I’ve been using a few things to get my cloudy negative mind turned around.  Hopefully they can help you if you’re in a funk.

  1. Smile more
    Its simple and easy to do. When I’m feeling down, I smile at everyone I see.  It brightens my day, and hopefully helps someone feel love.
  2. Meditate
    Sometimes its less of meditation and more of hiding in a dark quite space.  When I separate myself and reflect on whats going on I can let go and feel peace.
  3. Forgive others and yourself
    This one can be hard, but when I hold onto negative feeling towards someone or myself I can not function.
  4. Journal 
    Keep a happy journal. Write down all the things that make you happy.
  5. Be grateful
    Even the smallest things you can be grateful for and make you happy.  I’m grateful every day that Diet DP exists and that makes me happy.
  6. Be Happy
    Crazy right?  Sometimes you just need to want to be happy, to be happy.

I want to be happy 24/7.  Which is not realistic, but I can get pretty darn close if I try.  The past couple weeks of Self-Love September have really been a great reminder that I need to be top priority.
