Perfect Halloween Playdate for your Little Pumpkin!

0

I’m not going to lie, I am completely over the top obsessed with Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday and my kids have followed suit. In this house we are big on baking everything pumpkin and now that both kids are whizzes with scissors and glue, we partake in a lot of fall crafts. When it comes to a Halloween playdate, I wanted to plan a fun time for all ages and make the cooking and crafting simple for a crowd. Here are the Hauk’s favorite Halloween Playdate ideas to help you plan your own spooky spectacle!

Crafts:

Handprint bats

You will need:

  1. Black paper
  2. Glue
  3. Google eyes
  4. White crayon

Fold the black paper in half and have the kids trace their hand with the wrist on the fold, then cut the hand out and open the finished product into a bat shape! (The fingers are the wings). Add google eyes and a funny smile and you have an easy craft for any age!

QTip Skeletons

You will need:

  1. QTips
  2. Glue
  3. Google eyes
  4. Black paper

Have the kids create a unique skeleton man with the QTips and of course, add eyes at the end. So easy and fun!

Handprint witches or footprint ghosts

You will need:

  1. White, green and orange paint (washable water based is best)
  2. Google eyes
  3. Star stickers

For the ghost, paint one foot white and place toes down on a black sheet of paper, add google eyes and let it dry! For the witch, paint the child’s hand green and place it fingers down on a white sheet of paper. Add orange hair (either with orange paint or you can use orange yarn glued on), google eyes and star stickers for the night sky. Make sure to draw a simple black broomstick for the witch to ride on!

Now onto the baking! I like to offer somewhat healthy homemade snacks at playdates, but it’s Halloween so there is a sweet twist to our favorite treats! While I prepared the baking area, I had the kids make placemats for themselves. Walmart had a pack of Make Your Own Halloween Game placemats that were so cute and only $3 for a pack of 20!

Graveyard ghosts

You will need:

  1. Ghost marshmallows
  2. Crushed oreos
  3. Chocolate pudding cups
  4. Pumpkin candy (if desired for decoration)
  5. Plastic seal-able baggies

Let each child open a chocolate pudding cup. Have each child place 2-3 oreos in a sealed plastic baggy and crush. Adults may need to add some muscle, but kids love to crush oreos!!! Sprinkle the oreos on top of the pudding. Add candy worms or a cute candy pumpkin and in the middle, place your ghost! So cute and hey, they will get some calcium from the pudding right?!

Pumpkin dip

You will need:

  1. 1 small package of vanilla pudding mix
  2. One can of pumpkin (15 oz.)
  3. Pumpkin pie spice (1/2 teaspoon)
  4. One tub of cool whip, softened

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl (let the kiddos help). Cool in the fridge for at least an hour, then have the kiddos dip all sorts of goodies in the dip for a healthy treat. Our top picks:

  • Apple slices
  • Graham Crackers
  • Nilla Wafers
  • Ginger Snaps
  • Large marshmallows
  • Teddy Grahams

Happy Halloween and hope these ideas help you have a ghoulish good time!
