Listen up Moms who are tired of the old fast food chicken nuggets and french fries. This is a fresh new way of looking at food options when dining out with your kids!
MAD Greens brings fast and fresh food to another level when it comes to healthy eating. They make it a point to use local ingredients from farms, bakeries and dairies. I was happy to hear that their food was made in-house from the salad dressings to the mouth-watering hummus.
MAD Greens recently opened their newest location in Mesa on the northwest corner of Val Vista & Baseline. My family was invited to come in and taste test the kids menu. The hospitality we received was above and beyond. The staff made it fun by having the kids try out new things that they had never had before: edamame, goat cheese, chickpeas and beets. My kids had mixed reviews on these but it was fun to see them trying new things. We were able to sample fresh-pressed juice and I fell in love with the Bright Buzz made with bananas, apples, carrots, pineapple, limes and bee pollen.
My husband and I were impressed with the concept that MAD Greens has for kids meals. They offer the Kids Super Box and Kids Awesome Box. The boxes have dividers inside so that kids can pick the ingredients that they want as they go down the line. My daughter picked out a great assortment of Penne noodles, carrot sticks, croutons, diced apples, grilled citrus chicken and strawberries. My son chose to keep it classic with a grilled cheese and a fruit cup with diced pears and strawberries.
East Valley Moms Blog writer, Nicole White says, “I love that it’s an easy, fast option when we are out that has healthy food for kids (not a chicken tender or fries in sight!). It’s also great that you can customize the boxes to fit with what your kiddo likes or can eat. Since Archer doesn’t have very many teeth, it’s nice to pick some softer veggies for for him to eat and things that are easy for him to pick up!”
“My kids had a great time picking out there food for their awesome boxes. They also loved eating with their hands. Edamame was their favorite.” says Erin Hicks, Photographer, E.L. Hicks Photography. “I loved that the food was not only good for my kids but it was local! I try to make a conscious effort to be mindful of what we eat and how it not only effects our body but also our environment. Our family has a really busy schedule so it is hard for me to cook up a healthy meal for my family everyday. Having such a great choice for eating out that is quick and easy. I hate the guilty feeling I get when I feed my kids fast food. That didn’t happen at MAD Greens. I left feeling satisfied and happy. We plan on hitting them up and taking our food to go before my son’s baseball game next week!”
