5 Ways to Host a Girls Night In

0

One of my favorite things to do with my girlfriends is to go out for a night of drinking and fun. We share laughs, make plans, and just forget about our day-to-day hectic lives. Sometimes, though it can be hard to get a group of women together for a night out.

Then when you do get people together, you have to figure out who’s driving? Will we need to take an Uber home, if so, what size Uber will we need? And finally, is the fun tonight going to be worth it?  I mean, let’s face it, it takes a little longer to recover from a night of staying out late and drinking.

5 Ways to Host a Girls Night In

If those are too many decisions for you and you like to keep things simple, why not try hosting a Girls Night In? Girls Night In is a great way to still get people together for fun, but to keep it low key. I mean, no one even has to wear shoes, how amazing is that?!

Here are some ideas for hosting a Girls Night In:

  1. Outdoor Happy Hour
    • It’s almost fall here in the valley, right? I’ll keep telling myself it is… One of my favorite things to do when the weather cools down is to sit on a patio and drink a cold beverage. If you have an outdoor space, host an outdoor happy hour where everyone brings an appetizer and a drink. You can serve a signature beverage such as a seasonal Sangria, sit outside under the café lights and chat all night! PS – Don’t forget the DEET.
  2. Coffee and Dessert
    • There’s a red velvet cake recipe you’ve been dying to try, but you know you have no business having an entire red velvet cake sitting around your kitchen? Invite some friends over for dessert and coffee.  Set up a coffee bar with different options such as alcoholic and non-alcoholic flavors, or decaf and fully caffeinated.
  3. Watch TV –
    • My neighbors and I regularly get together to watch The Bachelor, but there are so many other shows to watch as well! Any of the Real Housewives series {I prefer the OC}, or Bravo’s newish show Odd Mom Out. Seriously, I just discovered it and you must watch it. You and your friends will love it and relate on so many levels! Season 2 of Making a Murderer is about to start on Netflix, you can binge watch a few episodes with the ladies. Have some snacks and dessert, and everyone brings their own beverage. Pajamas optional, yoga pants required.
  4. Movie Night –
    • My neighbor has a great movie room in her home with reclining seats, a popcorn maker, and candy dispenser. We head over in our stretchy pants and sweat shirts with our own wine, and we watch an uninterrupted, mindless Chick Flick.
  5. Game Night –
    • Bunco or card games are always fun, but try breaking out a board game! Apples to Apples, Headz Up and Scattergories are great ones to play with a group. Or, if you dare, you can play Cards Against Humanity. Make a signature drink to go along with your game, have a few munchies, provide nuts or popcorn and candy on the playing table and enjoy!

I hope this inspires you to host a Girls Night In! It’s important to take time for you, but also to connect with friends on a regular basis. I think I’ll go plan an outdoor happy hour right now. Soon, right, I can have it soon?!
