These Are A Few of My Favorite Apps!

0

Since it is that time of year where everyone is sharing their favorite things list, I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite apps. I guess you could say I’m a little addicted to my apps! It’s incredible that just a few short years ago, I did not even understand what an app was. Once I switched over to an iPhone, I was sold! I especially love apps that are free and I rarely pay for them; unless I have a good recommendation from a friend. The best types of apps are ones that inform me, save me time, and give me a good laugh throughout the day!

So here goes….

MY FAVORITE APPS

Boomerang

  • If you do not have Boomerang, download it NOW! It basically let’s you create short videos (only a few seconds) that loops back and forth into a continuous video. Let me just say my family and friends have had many good times and laughs creating Boomerang videos!

Flipp

  • When I found out about the Flipp app, I literally “flipped” out with joy! This is because it meant no more cutting coupons or saving all the grocery store circular ads that come in the mail. No more circling what I need with a sharpie and then forgetting my lists at home. With this app, every story ad you could possibly want is available. Tap the picture and it circles it for you and saves it to a list. To top it off, there are COUPONS available for use!!

No Wait

  • This app is a lifesaver and really the best invention ever! Especially if you have an impatient child, as I do, who doesn’t have the patience to wait for a long time. Go to this app and browse restaurants in your area that belong (and there are many) and sign up to wait in line from home! You will receive a text message and information on how many people are ahead of you. Usually when there’s about 2-3 parties ahead of us, we make our way to the restaurant, check in, and wait for the next table!

Chore Monster

  • If you have a strong willed child, as do I, this will be your lifesaver. I could literally never get my child to do any chores around the house until I downloaded this app. You will also need to download the “Mothership” so that you can add chores. Basically, you can add any chore you want, along with a reward. I add things like; homework, vacuuming, clean up outside, pick up toys, dust bedroom….you get the idea. Then I assign points to each chore and when my son receives 300 points, he gets $5 dollars. As your child does a chore, they go into their app to put a thumbs up and then you go into the Mothership app to actually approve it. This way they are not adding chores without actually doing them.

workouts

Daily Workouts FREE

  • When I was taking physical therapy, my therapist recommended this one and I absolutely love it. There are 5 minute videos that range from; abs, arms, butt, cardio, and legs. Each video contains 10 different exercises for 30 seconds each. This is my go to exercise app to focus on certain body parts. Plus, who doesn’t have at least 5 minutes to exercise! You can upgrade and get more exercise videos, but honestly, what they give you is a great start. Each focus group comes with 3 different videos to help you build endurance.

Heart Rate FREE

  • Can you believe there is an app that can accurately record your heart rate? It’s crazy, but true! Just put your fingertip over the camera lens and it detects and records your heart rate. With my thyroid problem, I have had to check my heart rate daily at the request of my doctor. Don’t spend money on expenses devices, just download this for free!

Yummly

  • If you run out of dinner ideas, this is an app for you. Not only are there countless recipes to choose from, but you can search for key words like “chicken” when looking for recipes. If you want to make a particular recipe, just click on the key ingredients that you need and it automatically puts it on a shopping list for your convenience! No more writing out shopping lists.

Couch to 5K

  • So this is one of the few apps I did pay for and I believe it was only a few dollars. I love it because it gives you a work out based on interval running and walking. You walk for about a minute to a minute and a half and then jog at your own pace for one minute. You can listen to any of your playlists while using this app and choose a virtual “trainer” based on the personality you like. You can also add friends and encourage one another on your journey.

Coupon Sherpa

  • I love using coupons, but rarely remember to bring them. With this app, you search the long list of stores that are available, then use the coupons that are already uploaded. I use this app all the time and always check it, no matter what store I am in, to save money! You can even save favorite stores, so that they are always the first to show up on the app instead of having to search for them.

Snapchat

  • I will admit, I used to think this was only for tweens. Then I downloaded it and realized how amusing it is on a daily basis. My whole family will participate in the fun from the different face changing and voice changing filters. I confess, I haven’t gotten into making videos and uploading them, I only send funny pictures to a few select family members. If you want to be entertained and have a good laugh, download this app to see how fun it can be!

I could go on and on about all my apps but wanted to pick just a select few. I hope you have enjoyed them and maybe found a few that you have not heard of before. I’m always looking for more apps and I would LOVE to hear about some of your favorite apps!
