Celebrating Easter around the East Valley!

It seems as though Christmas and New Year’s day just happened and now we are about to celebrate Easter. What?? Where has the first quarter of the year gone? Well it will be here soon enough so lets start planning some celebrating.

One of my favorite things to do during Easter is to color eggs. I love all the options we have available to us now.  The coloring kits evolved from your pastel and primary colors to camo, neon, tie dye, even glittery ones, don’t forget marbled or even animal prints  and the list goes on. So much to choose from and so much fun. You can even go all natural by using blended fruit or veggies as your dyes. Wow!!! Thank you Paas, Glob and of course Pinterest for all the awesome ideas for making our boiled eggs look so much more festive and making us look  crafty and creative. Since we are on the egg topic, why not make this plastic egg garland like I did to string around your home. It’s fairly inexpensive and can be made during soccer practice.

Don’t feel like coloring eggs? Well here’s a roundup of a few of my favorite places to go to with my family if I am not hosting my own egg hunt. Vertuccio Farms on Power road is hosting an Easter EGG-sperience that is fun for the whole family. The city of Chandler is hosting it’s annual FREE Easter celebration at Snedigar Sportplex this year, click here for more info. Downtown Mesa is also offering a FREE egg hunt on Friday April 3 and lets not forget Schnepf farm in Queen Creek has their very own Easter Egg-citement. All places offer kids a fun experience and a very good reason to be outside to enjoy our non-snowy temps.

Moving on to some yummy eats, if you are searching for places to brunch around the East Valley try Zinburger or  Postino’s Gilbert both located in downtown Gilbert where you can find other restaurants to enjoy breakfast or lunch at. Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort in downtown Chandler will also serve Easter brunch and if you want to venture out of the East valley try Flower Child, Culinary Drop-out and any other Fox Restaurant Concepts that will be hosting special Easter events.

If the price of a meal is an issue when going out for events like these ($40 up to $75 per adult) why not offer to host the Easter brunch this year and have invited friends and family bring something to share. Bacon wrapped smokies, veggie trays or fruits can be great appetizers. Ham, roast, crab legs, quiche as your main dish. A big green salad, green bean or corn casserole, rolls, baked potatoes or company potatoes for the sides. Cupcakes, blondies, brownies, pies and cakes are great easy dessert. When planning a potluck Easter feel free to ask your family or friend to bring food from a specific category that way you will avoid the too much dessert and not enough sides problem. Don’t forget to include the drinks in your potluck list, wether it’s bottles of water or adult beverage this too can be assigned or BYOB it! It’s ok, most everyone will want to bring something and hang out with you, cause you are awesome!

Worried your house isn’t ready to host a party. Is it picked-up? kinda clean? You have TP? If you answered yes to most, it’s party ready. A nice white table cloth and a few colorful placemats will brighten up any table. Don’t forget the power a white vase with fresh spring flowers in it has…it’s simple and makes a beautiful centerpiece that looks great on a table or the kitchen counter. Keep it simple and you will be okay. Click here for more Easter table scape ideas.

One thing you must make sure you do this Easter is to have fun. Enjoy the moment and the day. Spend it with the company you love and eat good food. We only live once and with that enjoy what Easter has to offer, new beginning, new life and fun times ahead! I hope you make it a great day!

XOXO, Roe
