This free, family-friendly event offers four scheduled egg hunts based on age: (Ages 0-2) (Ages 3-4) (Ages 5-6)(Ages 7-9)

Egg scrambles start promptly at 10:30 a.m. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior. Make sure to bring your basket – more than 12,000 eggs have been hidden across the sport fields!

This year, think outside of the traditional Easter “basket”. We’ve got three crafty basket activities sure to keep your kids entertained and get them into the Easter mood. From an eco-friendly “paper plate” basket to the festive spring “flower pot” basket, it’s all totally eggs-citing fun. Don’t forget to bring your homemade basket to Chandler’s Family Easter Celebration on Saturday, March 26. We can’t wait to see them!

Added bonus: these baskets really inexpensive and make great centerpieces!

Paper Plate Basket

You’ll Need: white paper plates (1 plate per basket), scissors, paper edger scissors, a ruler, pencil, washi tape or rubber bands, 4 paper clips, Easter grass filler and candy.

What To Do:

  • Using the paper edger scissors or pinking shears, trim about 1/4″ off of the circumference of the plate.
  • Flip the plate over so the front side is facing down. Use the pencil and ruler to make a 9-section grid. Try your best to make the center square in the center of the plate. If you want you can measure it.

  • Use the regular scissors to cut a slit along every other vertical line. Stop cutting where the vertical line intersects with the center square.

  • Fold one side at a time up to form the “basket”. Use one paper clip to hold each side together as you assemble the basket.
  • Use washi tape and wrap it around the basket and then remove the paper clips. If you are using rubber bands, simple wrap the rubber bands around the basket. And you’re done! Now fill them up with Easter grass and candy!

Flower Pot Easter Baskets

You’ll Need: small terra cotta pot around 5-6” (or smaller), double-sided scrapbook paper in 2 coordinating patterns and colors, scissors, glue and glue dots (or tape), embellishments, Easter grass filler and candy.

What To Do:

  • Cut a strip from the scrapbook paper that is the same width and length as the rim of the pot and attach it to the rim with glue. (2 strips of paper may be necessary to cover the rim depending on the size)

    •
  • Cut another long strip of paper (same width as the rim) from your coordinating paper pattern. Bend the paper to create a handle and use glue dots to attach both ends of the strip to the inside of the pot.

  • Decorate the basket with embellishments (optional). Add grass and candies and other Easter treats!

What To Do:

  • Cut off the entire slanted top of the carton, leaving a square without a top.
  • Cut and decorate a strip of scrapbook paper that will be the basket’s handle.
  • Staple or glue the strip to the inside of two sides of the carton to create a handle.
  • Decorate the outside of the basket. Let dry and fill with Easter fun.
